Huaphan fire victims need more assistance

The 31 families who lost their homes in a blaze that swept through Sonkhuaneua village in Huameuang district, Huaphan province last month have received essential supplies from generous donors but now need help to build new houses.
Some 22 houses were destroyed in the blaze and eight others suffered serious damage.  The buildings that burned down were mostly made of wood.
The 152 people who are now homeless lost almost everything they owned. The fire is believed to have been due to an electrical fault, with the resulting damage estimated at almost 2 billion kip.
