Xayaboury-Thai road upgrade 35 percent complete

A project to lay asphalt on 10 kilometres of road between the Thongkarp junction and the Huaytong checkpoint in Xayaboury province, linking to Song Khwae district in Nan province, Thailand, is now 35percent complete. The progress was reported when the Xayaboury provincial Governor Mr Phongsavanh Sitthavong conducted an inspection of the work with other officials on Monday. The road upgrade, which began in March 2018, is expected to be complete in 2020. The project is expected to cost about 39 billion kip and is funded by the government with the work being carried out by the BM Company.
