Laos’ trade deficit increases in first quarter of 2019

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The value of Laos’ combined exports and imports in the first quarter of 2019 amounted to 1.53 percent less than during the same period last year, excluding the value of electricity imports and exports.

Total trade value in the first three months of this year touched US$2,317 million, with imports valued at US$1.229 million while exports were worth US$1,086 million. This resulted in a trade deficit of US$143 million, according to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
