FEATURE: Tremendous increase in plastic waste in Vientiane
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – There is growing concern in Vientiane about the impact of plastic waste on the environment.
Mr Oudon Chanthavongsy, the owner of Lao Chaleunxay Recycle, a shop that has been buying plastic waste from people for many years, told me by telephone that the amount of rubbish in the city has increased greatly and many people collect waste that they sell at his outlet.
But these collectors cannot collect all the plastic products thrown away by people, especially in places without trash cans.
