Laos strengthens minimum wage fixing process

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) is working with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to devise recommendations for setting the minimum wage in Laos.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare recently approved 1,100,000 kip per month as the minimum wage and this change is now being implemented. However, the business sector, acting on behalf of employers, is calling for more logical and scientific calculations to be carried out before increasing the wage.
