Lao local authorities aim to make newly-listed world heritage site more visitor friendly

VIENTIANE, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) — Xieng Khuang provincial authorities in Laos plan to install more facilities at the Plain of Jars to make the area more visitor friendly, in anticipation of a tourist influx following its listing as a World Heritage Site this year.

During a press conference on the official celebration of the Plain of Jars’ listing as a World Heritage Site, provincial governor Bountone Chanthaphone said the province will continue to improve infrastructure, especially roads, to ensure the safety of visitors, local daily Vientiane Times reported on Monday.
