71 houses damaged in Xayaboury earthquake

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The latest estimate of the earthquake damage in Hongsa district, Xayaboury province, puts the number of affected houses at 71, while seven people were injured.

According to a report from the Hongsa district office, the earthquakes measuring 6.4 and 5.9 on the Richter scale struck the district early on November 21.

Reports state that 71 houses in 14 villages were damaged, as well as four offices, four hospital centres, four schools and five temples.

Some 95 families suffered damage to their property or lost belongings and local authorities are now assessing the cost of the damage.
