Laos backs promotion of children’s rights on Asean stage

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The government has reaffirmed its support for Asean efforts to promote the rights of children and women in the region, believing that this will make a significant contribution to the realisation of the Asean community.

Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Savankhone Razmountry, reiterated the position of the Lao government at the 22nd Asean Socio-Cultural Community Council Meeting held on the sidelines of the 35th Asean Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 2. The meeting, which took the theme “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability”, was attended by Asean ministerial level officials in charge of cultural and social affairs.
