Govt spends over 2.5 trillion kip on rural development

The government invested over 2 trillion kip in 1,600 projects relating to rural development and poverty eradication in 2016 and 2017, authorities in charge told the National Assembly (NA) recently. Assembly members and government officials are attending an ongoing ordinary session of the legislative body from June 5-28. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr Lien Thikeo said the government spent 2.67 trillion kip on these projects, of which 2.38 trillion kip came from domestic funds and 296 billion kip was sourced from foreign donor countries.
