Saravan stepping up inspections for chemical food contaminants

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The Ministry of Health has called on Saravan province to redouble efforts in inspecting seafood, meat and vegetable imports from neighbouring countries following another discovery of chemical contaminants in these foods.

The presence of illegal chemical preservatives in imported seafood, vegetables and meat products has been a recurring problem for Saravan, even though the authorities carry out regular inspections.
