City road sections to be upgraded to reduce congestion
Vientiane authorities are improving and widening some main roads and installing traffic lights for pedestrians in community areas to reduce traffic congestion.
The work is being undertaken by the Vientiane Public Works and Transport Department.
The head of the department’s transportation management division, Mr Sivone Subthavy, told Vientiane Times yesterday the work on road widening and installation of traffic lights started around the end of August and is expected to be complete by the end of November.
Roads are being widened in four places – near Polytechnic College to Donnokkhoum village, Sisattanak district and four junction road at Dongdok-450 Road in Xaythany district, he said. ..
