Low quality rice hinders sales to China
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The Rice Research Centre under the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI), Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has admitted the country’s rice export targets will not be met largely because farmers are not using good quality rice seed.
Director of the Centre, Dr Chanthakhone Boualaphanh, said the Chinese government had agreed to buy 20,000 tonnes of rice from Laos each year.
