Australia deserves credit for linking Laos to the world
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – Laos is transforming itself from a landlocked country into a land-link within the region with numerous Mekong bridges, roads and other infrastructure being built to connect it with neighbouring Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and China.
One of the notable projects playing a pivotal role in connecting the nation with the rest of the world is the ongoing construction of the Laos-China railway. This rail section, which runs from the Chinese border to Vientiane, will serve as part of the Singapore-Kunming railway, a vital link for Asean countries.
