Rice production targets set to rise in 2019, Minister says
An ambitious target has been set to increase the rice production in 2019 and to ensure food security that was undermined by this year’s severe floods, a minister said this week. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is targeting 100,000 hectares of dry season rice next year, an increase from just 90,400 hectares targeted for this year, its minister Dr Lien Thikeo said.
